Can anyone give any advice on chokes and loads?...

I will tell you the same thing I tell everyone else...LOL.  Call William at SumToy Customs (912) 237-4360 He can sell you the right choke and tell you which load or loads to try.  He does a LOT of testing and is a wealth of info!!!  :icon_thumright:

I would recommend something between .665 and .675.  Indian Creek .675 would be my first choice.

But..... you could just call Sumtoy and he can take care of you.  If I was just starting out trying to find a choke for whatever load, then I would save myself some time go with Sumtoy.

First of all, that's a great gun. It has the Invector+ bore but some additional features as well. I've spent a lot of range time with that gun, including time with the design engineer for Browning that lead the team that developed that gun and the Winchester SX3. We shot the Full Strut choke that Browning recommends for that gun. It has a .640 exit diameter and does an excellent job with a variety of shotshells, including Hevi-13 and others. I shoot the SSX through that gun, it has very different internal geometry from the Browning Full Strut but a similar exit diameter, .643 and it does an excellent job as well.

You have a great choice of brands and designs and it's not all about the exit diameter but more about how the manufacturer designs his choke tubes. That's why a .665 may perform very well in one brand and a .675, ,680, .640 or .643 in another brand may perform equally well.

While I've shot a number of 3.5" shells though that gun, I much prefer the 3" and find that they'll do all that's necessary to cleanly kill a bird at all reasonable ranges. I like and shoot Hevi-13 shells both in competition and for hunting and use mostly #6 shot.

No matter what you choose I know you'll enjoy that gun.

Thanks,
Clark

Thanks for the info everyone.   I'm actually about to purchase the Browning Maxus.  This shotgun shoulders great.  My only hesitation is should I get a 3" or 3.5?   I plan on using this gun mainly for turkey but also want to have an all around shotgun.   What are your thoughts?

I prefer 3" guns but in our part of the world a 3.5" has better resale value due to the number of waterfowl hunters who use 3.5" shells with steel shot. While most of us don't buy guns with the idea of reselling them, it's always something to keep in mind.

I have the 26" AP infinity model 3.5 inch.  It is my favorite turkey shotgun of all time.  I have had every major player including Benelli,Beretta and Browning golds.  I bought the hevi13 choke per Clarke's recommendation and with hevi 6 or7's get the best pattern of any turkey gun I have ever owned.  I was going to try several different chokes.but after my first patterning session didn't need to waste my money.

I have played with it at trap and with the full choke shoot 25's with regularity.  It fits me perfect.and hits poa.  I am lefty and made no changes with the shims.   It's only shortcoming in the 3.5 version is that it doesn't always like to cycle the light target loads, but I bought it as a dedicated Turkey gun.  If you plan on using it for everything then I would get the 3.  If a dedicated Turkey/predator/duck gun get the 3.5
