Ebay Moss 835 Star Dot

Get it while you can guys. I just saw this come up on Ebay just a bit ago.

This choke says PTC technologies on the back. Didn't most have Highlander sports?

Then that can't be an original Star Dot choke made by Colonial Arms. 

I'm 99.9% sure now that is where the copying or the stealing of Colonial Arms choke design began by Highlander Sports.

It's funny that don't have Highlander Sports on the back of the package.  For I know that they are the ones that stole Colonial Arms design. and had another company make their chokes.

Highlander Sports went bankrupt in either 2002 or 2003 from the info I have on the internet looking up info on them. 

This strikes me as odd why Highlander Sports isn't on that package.

Ptc Technologies in Huntsville, AL is a private company categorized under Electronic Detection Systems (Aeronautical). Our records show it was established in 2002 and incorporated in Alabama. Register for free to see additional information such as annual revenue and employment figures.

Aeronautical is the key here. Stardot may have had these made from someone outside the choke tube industry. They may have taken colonials design to PTC and had them made.

I don't think PTC Technologies is no longer in business either.  I couldn't find any info about them currently on the net when I looked last. 

But Star Dot chokes were no longer made either after 2002 or 2003 from the info I have.

I wanted to add that all those chokes that the guy from AL on ebay is selling are not original Star Dot chokes and were made by PTC Technologies and were the stolen design of Colonial Arms just so you guys know.  The owner of Colonial Arms never told me who copied their design, but I bet you she knew. 

Also the original Colonial Arms Star Dot chokes had a white sticker over the blue letter Moss 835 like the one in the ebay link above and were written in black letters.  I'll get you a picture of front and back of the true original Star Dot chokes made by Colonial Arms.

Here's another hunch on my part.  Highlander Sports might have went belly up before they had PTC Technologies copy the design of the Colonial Arms original Star Dot chokes for all I know and why the words Highlander Sports isn't on the package in the one on that ebay link above.  And someone from Highlander Sports may have went to work for PTC Technologies and either took this upon themself to do this copying for all I know. 

We probably will never know the whole story, but we now know most of the facts.

For what it is worth, I am told that the PTC Technologies Star Dot chokes that were in fact copies of the original Colonial Arms Star Dot chokes, shot just as good as the originals made by Colonial Arms. 

I know I had a straight groove one that had to be made by PTC Technoligies that I gave to guy  I worked with a few years ago.  I also gave him one of my great shooting Hevi-13 3.5" 2.25oz #7 loads to try it with.  That choke I believe was brand new unfired in package.  He said he got 290 shot in 9" circle at 40yds.  So that would equivalate to about 350 or so in a 10".  I have gotten 360 and 361 in a 10" with mine at a taped 40yds.  Now he may have stepped off his yardage.  But I just know he told me that I was right abouth that choke and load shooting so well.  He said he never could get his Moss 835 to shoot is why I gave him that choke and load to try.  He now is a believer in why the 835 's are the ultimate turkey gun.

I decided to give it a go. Just bought an 835 and was looking for a good choke. Been reading the posts on here and it was between a Star Dot and an Indian Creek. Thanks for the heads up and all the good info about 835's.
