There is plenty of none quota hunting areas that are good hunting plus there is some quota areas that you only need a quota for the first week of the season.

There are some good public land hunts in FLA. Usually you can get them with 1 or 2 preference points. Remember though, if you want an Osceola for your slam, you need to hunt in central or south Florida. Good luck!

The quota system in Florida is getting better but still has some bugs to get worked out of it. There is alot of premo permits that get drawn and go unused or they only get used one day of a three day hunt? I live by several premo areas and every year this happens? They Need to have a permit box at these areas to put your unused permit in so someone else can hunt with it instead of going to waist. The best way for out of state hunters to hunt on Florida quota hunt wma areas is to hunt with a local that has a permit and go as a guest.
Us Florida turkey buster are not as bad as some may put us once you get to know us LOL. Get to know the locals it's your ticket to some good hunts and lasting friendships that will continue from year to year.I have meet alot of out of state hunters by way of swapping hunts. It's a good way to hunt out of state and save some cash.

Ever since they quit allowing the transfer of quotas to another person, my success of getting drawn has been so much better.  It use to take 3-5 preference points to get drawn.  Lately I've been getting drawn with just one.  This year I was picked during phase 2 without any preference points for an "OK" area.  Osceola hunts in my area cost around $2200 on private land for one bird.  To me that's just nutz but they sell out quickly.  Once you get a quota, most are a 5 day hunt max.  Honestly I'd like to see them open up a 3rd hunt just for unsuccessful hunters out of the first two hunts to make a last ditch effort.  Last year, I was drawn for a great spot that only allows 5 permits, but the gobblers were very henned up and not vocal AT ALL once off the roost.  Only two out of 10 permits were successful, which in that area is very low for how many birds are there.

Last year they had a mess up with the draw and did a reverse on the point system. It was the first draw for a new server fwc got. Ya usually you can get drawn with 2 points for places. More for places that are hard hunted. I got drawn with 2 points this year. Good luck to you guys coming to Florida

I got drawn my second year applying for Camp Blanding  .. granted it is right on the Border of the mythical Osceola Line but it is below it.. and the Bird I killed sure looked like Osceola plumage to me .. but the older I get the less I care about that stuff.. if it gobbles and comes within 40 yds I am gonna shoot it if I have a tag and I really only care about getting an early start on the season.
RB .. Take me Home Country Roads

I did not get drawn for a Spec. Op tag....15th in line. I put all my eggs in that basket and did not put in for a quota permit. The Spec. Op tag is transferable by the way. May still go down and hunt Richloam, can walk-in after the first 9 days.
