Went to lgs today and picked up a h&r topper deluxe coverd in the original mossyoak bottomland camo spent 45 minutes polishing barrel and touched up a couple rough spots with flat black paint. And stained inside of forearm. Put a truglo choke in her and orderd  a truglo snap over the barrel sight. Gonna order an indian creek choke next week.

My Son has an h&r partner he won at a turkey shoot awhile back.We had a weaver rail put on it and a reddot. He has an older truglo choke by basner .665 in it and it shoots some really nice patterns. But man does it KICK lol!

jerf

How did you attach the rail. I was told you cant drill and tap the 12 gauge lack of metal

the Ward

Drilled and tapped.I didn't think you could either but my gunsmith had already done a few with no problems. He said he doesn't drill all the way thru and he uses some sort of super locktite on the screws. So far its been on for three years and quite a few rounds and no signs of anything wrong.I will say it did make me a little nervous at first as I had heard the same thing as you about it being too thin but he said it would be ok.ive done business with him for 25 years and he is best friends with my buddys dad so i'm pretty sure he wouldn't put a pipe bomb in my hands lol ! Mite also want to check with William at Sumtoy customs,he is a member here and builds a lot of turkey shoot competion guns he should be able to tell you if it can be done  correctly or not.

After i posted i talked with the local gun smith and he said he could do it but they were tricky. I shot it and it' good left and right but shoots about 3 inches high which i can live with as long as the indian creek chock im ordering shoots the same. Not gonna take chance on having the barell messed up if i dont have to. Thanks for your reply.
