having a problem with doves

Ok so I took care of the coon problem with my feeder. Now I got a new problem there has been a bunch of stupid doves eating the corn under my feeder before the deer can get it there must be like 30 of them. Any suggestions on how to take care of this problem. Thanks

9/1/13 is opening day of dove season for us. Maybe take care of it then.

If your feeder has a timer can you set it to go off later in the evening.

Quit feeding corn right now.  There is nothing in corn that provides nutrition right now for them.  Try feeding pellets or something else.

I've tried the pellets they seem to clog up the feeder is there any pellets that won't clog them up. Put out some minerals for them and a lot of clover more then they can eat. I would like to find something better for them. I basically just use the corn to bait them so I can get pics and see what deer made it threw the season. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can feed them I appreciate it. For the doves I'm going to talk to the gw about it to see what I can do.

haha yea ur right reaper what am I thinking I'm just going to put up a sign by my feeder that says any doves within 15 yds of this sign will be shot on sight. I wonder how many I can get with one shot. I'm going to say atleast 6

I'm sure you were just kidding about shooting them near the feeder, seeing as how they are federally protected and it would be hunting over bait as well as out of season....

....you might try an Owl Decoy on top of the feeder or on a pole nearby.

Haha yea I was just kidding. But they seemed to have moved on or the hawks got them or something . Haven't seen one in a couple days. I'm hopeing they do come back around September I'm just gonna remove the feeder and all the corn a few hours before I go hunting. Should get my limit pretty easy. Probably a few of my buddys also.

We get ton's of pics over minerals which they really need this time of year. The Trophy Rocks are good but costly. We use granulated Trace Mineral from our local co-op. Mix in a pack of jello mix per 8-10 lbs for a scent attractant and you will get all the pics you want.

Instead of trophy rock , tractor supply sells mineral licks for cows with virtually identical minerals, they weigh 40 or 50 lbs and cost half the price of the rock for more than twice as much, deer tore them up on my dads property
