Just picked up one, it is in mint shape and looking to build a new turkey thumper for my daughter. I have several boxes of Fed premium #7's 3", and dont even know where to begin with a choke..Any suggestions?

Unless your daughter is very skilled in shooting the shotgun and the bead sight is adequate for a choke as tight as a .555 as suggested above, I suggest something in the line of a 575 such as the Carlson's non ported or contact Sumtoy for a more custom fitted choke option to fit your specific needs.

A good bit might depend upon your daughter's experience level and what type of hunting you do, field, woods, etc.

The #7 Heavyweight shells can throw very good even 10" patterns at distances up to and including 40 yards. At that distance they also normally have a good fringe pattern out to 20". I see those kinds of patterns through the SSX. I don't see "baseball" size patterns at 25 yards but the 10" core pattern is much more dense and the fringe pattern in smaller.

I would recommend that you "deep clean" the bore of that gun and see how the patterns look with the flush full choke that came with your gun. That may be all that you need. I'd start at 25 yards and work your way out a bit until the patterns are no longer effective.

If the full choke works, you may not need to spend any extra money a dedicated turkey choke.

I have gotten some great looking hunting patterns with just the factory full with several of my guns

She is a pretty fluent turkey hunter. Been shooting an old H&R 20g for years, and a buddy let me use his Rem 870 youth 20 this past year and she loved killing turkeys with it.
I have been one the search for a good gun, and couldnt pass up the deal for this Charles Daly.
She is 14 now, and may grow a little bit, but not much more than she is now, so I was looking to build her one that will last, and a sho nuff killer. She can handle any load, and has proven it to me time and time again. 
I plan on cleaning the bbl real good and putting some true glo adjustable sights on it. Was just looking to see what the most effective choke for the shells I have were for that gun, if anyone else was shooting it. Thanks for all the great replies.
