FullChoke

In a top secret, black ops trip a week ago, one of my turkey brothers and I swapped hunting hotspots on two WMAs that we both had been drawn for this year. I went back to one of the locations Sunday morning to listen and as I was slipping down this trail, a hen clucks twice off to my right. Immediately a gobbler hammers off to my left about 100 yards away on the other side of the creek. He winds up gobbling about 6-7 times before shutting up. I ease further down the trail to a food plot and sit down to see if anything would move into it to get a quick bite of breakfast. After half an hour or so I spot some white moving through the woods on the far end of the plot. I get my binoculars on it and get a clear view of what looks to be a white coyote. Not grey, white. He left and I backed out. I plan on being back there Friday evening to roost the gobbler.

I checked another spot and found a set of big gobbler tracks walking a woods road. Looks like he walked the road in the afternoon since we had some pretty hard rains most of the day Saturday and the tracks showed only a little rain blotting. This gives me an idea as to when he likes to cover this area.

Two good indicators of two good birds. Good weather forecast and opening day - Saturday should be a BLAST!

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

Sounds like a great mourning . Good luck on your up coming opener. Bust a head for the team.

CB on the run

Hope ya draw 1st blood.  We just got blanketed again with about 4" of the white stuff.  My son & I did see a small flock down the road last week and I got 1 of the 2 gobblers to strut and finally give a half hearted gobble with a box call my son had in the truck.  They won't be hot here until the first week of April.

Go get'em FullChoke! I haven't had time to do any scouting yet. Our season open up south of me on the 15th. I hope to be able to go the following Saturday. It's not looking real good as of now. They are telling us at work that we're fixing to start working 6 days a week. I can't take any vacation in the spring either, :(. I'll hunt all I can to help the team out.
