Need some quick Colorado Hunting location advice - leaving tomorrow

I just found out earlier today I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip to the Denver area and staying through Sunday. Would love to hunt turkeys one morning and/or afternoon. From a quick Internet search it appears the public land is draw only but private land is over the counter. Could be way off on that but what it looked like from a quick search. I'm willing to pay a little if necessary to hunt if there are any options around denver.

Anybody know any land owners that might be interested in making a little money or a reasonable outfitter that would work with me? Any help would be appreciated. Trying to decide what to pack.

Thank you.

Did the same thing a couple of years ago. I flew into Denver and bought an over the counter tag in Colorado Springs on a thurs morning. A buddy met me near Ft. Carson and took me to a public spot he used to hunt. Went an hour SW of Ft Carson into the National Forest. He hunted with me Thurs afternoon and turned me loose on Friday morning. I got a Merriam's that morning. Very cool hunt!!  Good luck.

Here is my post from the hunt.

Everything east of highway 144 as it crosses the South Platte along I-76 is by draw, both public and private.  West of 144 is OTC but largely private.  There are some public tracts along the South Platte that are pretty good - I've seen a lot of birds at Centennial SWA and there is another just east of Greeley.  Those will be Rios or hybrids.

You will find a lot of public land in the mountains along the front range, those are gonna be Merriams.

mdbowman, that was a good read and made me envious for a quick buddy in CO.  thanks for the advice spaightlabs on where to go.  i wish i had a few more days to plan.  as of right now i am packing a few camo clothes and my mouth call.  maybe i'll find something nearby in next day or two and hunt at end of week.  again thanks for your help.

If I only had a day or 2 to make it happen On my own I would bet on Centennial.  Most of the CO fellas will have lost interest by now if they haven't tagged out.

Was out east today, saw  4 birds at Centennial on the North side of the river...

If I had time to go out with you I'd loan ya a gun, but I gotta work the rest of the week and the weekend has been pre-planned for me.

Well thanks for the help and advice. If you're ever down in MS give me a shout and we'll go hunt.
