Need help with my fast fire III and benelli sbe II

I bought the new fast fire III for a brand new benelli sbeII.  I mounted it with the weaver 93A base.  I had to buy a raised comb for the gun because it sits so high.

few problems that maybe someone can help me with:
1) when I patterned it, I maxed out the elevation and it still shoots too low.  most of the pattern hits the neck and 6 inches below when aiming at the turkey head at 40 yards.

I moved the fast fire as far forward on the mount since it is a 1 piece base, which helped get to the pattern I am at now.

2) wednesday, I was fortunate enough to have 4 toms walk in on my decoys at had a 20 yard shot.  Only 1 problem, the red dot would not turn on.  I turned it on when I first went out at dark.  Then I checked it about 1 hour later and nothing.  I pushed the button several times to no avail.  After missing 3 shots with hevi shot mag blend at about 20 yards (yes you read right 3 shots, the turkeys looked at me and didn't flinch.  I realized later that the shot sailed over their heads because I had the raised comb and couldn't remove the fast fire no screw driver).

I immediately thought it could be the battery, even though I have had it on for maybe 5 hours total from 1 prior hunt on Monday.  I bought new batteries and changed it twice.  Still no laser dot.  After about 1 hour of frustration, my father finally got it to work with the old battery.  You have to press the on button just right twice while holding it down.  I imagine maybe there is a short and it needs to be returned, however, since I am in the middle of turkey season that will have to wait.

So few questions:

1) should I switch to a speed bead mount?  I have read reviews and no sure if this is best for me
2) should I switch to a warne mount since it is lower profile?
3) should I switch to the marlin mount?  I would rather not have to get another hole drilled and tapped but if this is best so be it
4) is there something else I could try to raise the pattern, even though I maxed out the elevation?  the only thing I can think of is that the fast fire is sitting way to high on the gun because of the mount.  since moving the sight forward caused it to pattern better

5) have you heard of any problems with the on/off button the fast fire IIIs?  or did I just get unlucky?  am I doing something wrong?  After trying 3 different batteries and getting the same problem, I am unsure what to do.  Obviously, I will be sending it back after the season.

Hopefully someone can help me with my problems.

I was able to keep the laser on today after pressing the on button multiple times.  Unfortunately, those same 4 toms came in over but got hung up out of range strutting.  The dreaded hang up, just the luck I am having this season I guess!
