My season started off calling one in for my nephew's first.  it would have been a successful season even if I didn't pull the trigger.

Hunted with a good friend on a turkey draw Friday evening and this morning.

Yesterday evening we had a NICE bird at 35 yards but no shot because of some thick brush.  A gang of jakes ran him off but he made one last pass before heading to the roost so we were able to size him up twice.

This morning we had an idea where he would be so we set up on a skidder path which ended up being ~75 yards from his roost.  He was a smart one and wouldn't come out of the tree until he saw a hen.  He was lighting up the woods for over an hour on his own.  We lost count of the number of gobbles he made but I feel confident it was close to 50.  We never heard him pitch down so we waited until 8:30 to move off and headed in the same general direction.

At 9am we were set up again and settled in for some quality nap time (at least for me).  At 10:01am this one gobbled on his own searching for the hen.  I gave him a little "over here" and he was coming.  He gobbled 3 times total and we were taking pictures at 10:11am.

He's not the big boy we saw the night before but still a good 2 year old.  The Game Land must have had some pressure because the birds were really skittish.

I put a thumbhole stock on my turkey gun this year and it is SO much more comfortable than the factory stock.  I highly suggest one!
