Had action early with a gobbler roosted closeby but he ignored my tree talk. Found out why when a hen fired up between us. Engaged her in a pi$$in match which got her mad and cutting but she got jealous and led him away. Moved up the mountain a little and had a mixed flock come in to less than 75yds. Heard some hens but atleast three gobblers gobbling hard at my calls. Couldnt understand why they hung up. Realized the recent logging had placed a ton of cuttings blocking the path like a wall. Four times they came that far and it was like a wall. When i realized that i got around it and set up where they had just been in the open hardwood all tore up with fresh scratching. But they had faded away for good . Couldnt raise a bird after 9 am but plenty of gobbling before that time. Birds Henned up hard. Buddies had similar hunts. Congrats to everyone who scored. Back at it monday morning.
