Could use advice on strikers

Hey guys I'm somewhat new to turkey hunting, and still buying a few calls here and there when I can. So far I have a Lonnie Sneed Hot Hen,  Green Glass, and a Mike Yingling Copper pot. I'm in the process of talking my self into getting  a David Halloran Twisted Sister, from there I believe I'll be set. Now what I would like to do is buy a couple of strikers. I know strikers has been beaten to death on here, and I have been searching for the last day or so.  I really like the looks of the mushroomed tiped strikers that Mr.David has on his site. Here is one of my questions. Which wood would you suggest for these calls? I have read several good things about Hickory, so I want to try that one for sure. Now its down to one or two more strikers. I know all of the call makers are busy right now, but if your a call maker and have time you can pm me. Or if some one has some laying around that just isnt doing it for them you can pm me if you want to get rid of it. So if anyone has any suggestions on who to talk to about building me a few strikers, that would be great. The striker dosnt have to have a mushroom tip. From what Im reading a good striker is a good striker no matter the tip? I guess the mushroom tip is just a personal thing, even tho I havent ever tried one. Again any suggestions on who to make a few strikers, and which wood to use would be great. Guys I know part of this should have been in the classifieds, but its a question thats been on my mind for the last couple of days, so I thought I would throw it in there while I was asking. I have numerous pot calls and even more strikers.  About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I bought a glass call on here from Mike Yingling and it came with a carbon-type striker.  If I were you, I'd reach out to him and see if you could just purchase one of his strikers.  Truthfully, I had never seen one quite like it and it makes all of my pot calls sing.  Just my $.02.

I have a ton of strikers and custom pot calls,  two of my favorite strikers are woodhavens laminated birch with a flared tip,  it is simply awesome and can be found for $15.  Another is Dads custom charcoal laminated hardwood striker.  It is I think $20 but both will make calls sing.  Scoot

alot of people have a favorite striker. if you ask me, there isnt a bad wood for a striker really.
the most you will hear of are osage, hickory, laminated, dogwood, walnut, hickory, purpleheart, etc.
i have a few myself, but i too am new to hunting. so far ive used a carbon, purpleheart, cherry, hickory, walnut, laminated, acrylic, dymondwood and probably leaving a few out.
my favorite is the dymondwood. it adds a good bit of rasp to nearly any call. it made my hot hen come have a totally different sound

if i were you, i would pick up couple strikers that have a wide range of sounds. something soft to get a deep tone, something thats hard to get a higher pitch, something to give you alot of rasp and then something somewhat medium toned.

i carry my dymondwood, hickory, cherry and a laminated striker in my vest. that covers alot of sounds and works great.

Highly recommend you pick up the twisted sister, it sounds great and it's real easy to run. Plus,it comes with a laminated striker and purple heart striker. I'd try those strikers on your other calls and see if they give you the sound you are looking for.

Don't think twice about the Twisted Sister. Just get it, Awesome crystal call.

I have his purpleheart mushroom striker and its nasty on the TS and slates with lots of sharp rasp. its a heavy well balanced striker, I plan on getting a few others of his here at some point. Hickory usually runs well on anything and I here is Epe is really good on his glass and crystal calls as well

I also am a fan of hooks gobbler stix strikers, the yellowheart and paduak especially although the cocobolo is my favorite on my yingling copper. 

Try a bunch off woods, styles and makers.. see what you like and you can always sell the rest here.

The most versatile striker in my vest is a Persimmon striker from Wendell Rye.  It runs great on every surface pot call I have and those are slate, glass, copper, ceramic and beaded anodized aluminum.

I have some of Dad's strikers, Lights Out strikers, Matt McClain strikers and several from Harold Fowler, but if I could only tote one striker to the woods, it would be this one. It sounds great on everything it touches, especially aluminum and crystal. There is a reason it's the #1 seller at Midwest year after year.

I got most of my strikers from Neal Herman, he makes the gobble stix for hooks. My favorite are the yellowheart and purpleheart, both have the flared tip. I have the woodhaven birch and the hollorand diamond wood. I have more from Neal but the ones I mentioned are my favorite.
