Its been really quiet lately. Saw a hen with poults today. Didn't hear a bird on the roost. About 45 minutes after shoot time I thought I heard a gobble. Ran both boxes about 5 minutes apart- NADA. About fifteen after I had run the boxes I heard a spit. Looked up to see this guy fully strutted up. Had the gun on him when he crossed the 40 yard mark. He walks left and he'll come all the way- Right and he'll get layed out there. Left hand turn, all the way to the decoys. A Jake over a lower hen. Did everything but say "Hey Turkey" to get him out of strut. Aimed high and you can see where the pattern went thru the fan...except the part his head and neck took out. Love the boom, SMACK- burned gun powder in the morning. Smaller bird than first. Finally got one to come all the way in.
Going again in the morning. Heard one gobble as I was picking up. Another 20 gauge bird.
