It uses the flight control wad. Very deadly on pheasants never tried it for turkeys

3" 870 Shell Shucker

All of the loads with flitestopper pellets use the FCW.

Out of curiosity, do you have the pattern pic available?   :camohat:

I am pretty sure that I might just have it still. I will check and see this afternoon. At 20 yards the pattern was super tight. At 40 yard it shots as good as anything I have shot.

in just about every gun that I have tried, the factory full choke 9 out of 10 times does real good with the fcw shells
you don't need a super tight turkey choke ti get these shells to work
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

I am trying some in my grandsons Mossy 20 gauge bantam turkey with factory flush mount extra full...just a couple of quick shots today and haven't counted hits ( 30 yards for this gun) but it looks promising.

I went back and checked and it is with a carlson full choke not a browning choke. It was a browning shotgun but a carlson non-ported choke. Shot better than the compn choke, which is understandable now because I found out that you should use the flitecontrol wad in a ported choke. I bought a pure gold .670 non ported that was designed for the flight control which shot pretty good, but nowhere like the carlson choke. The carlson full is .710 and sticks out of the barrel about an inch. This barrel has had the forcing cone lengthened and polished as well.

Carlson uses .030 as their standard for Full choke.

Briley would call this Light Full.

as I have said before, you can get some great patterns with the fcw by using the factory full chokes without spending hundreds of dollars on turkey chokes that may or may not pattern worth a crap

These prairie storm things shoot better than the federal premiums, Winchester extended ranges, or regular winchesters, however I did not try the Winchester extended range shells through my comp n choke. I will stick with these things. Especially at $25 a box of 25.

I've been curious about the fed fcw.For you guys using them, has anyone tried patterning them with a "black cloud" specific choke?I have a truloc black cloud full choke i use for waterfowl and i think when our season is over i might try running a few lead and heavyweight federal fcw type shells thru it just to see what happens, being those chokes are designed to work with them. This choke throws a mean pattern at 40 with bc 3s and 4s and also kent faststeel 4s.This choke mics out at .695 in a benelli crio, the stock full mics at .680 and the stock im.modified i believe is .700.This combo (fcw heavyweight-bc choke)has got me interested in what it would do.Guess i will have to try it now if nothing else just to satisfy my curiosity!....ward

The one thing that I am afraid of with this flight control wad as with a lot of the tight chokes is missing him a 10 yards. With these prairie storms you will actually see the wadding go down range. I have only ver noticed that a few other times.
