The day started with the three we left yesterday quiet, so we started trolling, heard one way off so we air out again, long story short there was two, we worked sides of a drain, trying to insure we were on the same side of the water as them, they gobbled every time the wingbone, or Pappys tube call spoke, but would not close the deal. I finally hushed, all was quiet, 20 minutes later. I cut on the bone and those buggers had left and were going onto lease land, so we troll our way back to the truck to try some different places. Clayton jears on in the far distance, we see a few birds on the gravel so we start trolling again, 200 yards and the third call on the bone and he answers about 100 yards out, it's thick, we set up as quick and quiet as we can, and the game starts, he answers the bone good but does not close, i yeeeeeOoww twice with Pappy's tube and he cuts it off, all is quiet for 15 to 20 minutes then he shatters the silence with a tree shaking gobble from 35 yards, i hit the bone real light and he does it again, then the spitting and drumming, Clayton shot him at 25 steps through a small opening. 1" spurs, 11-3/8" beard. He is one pumped young man, and out of tags since he got another good un yesterday.
