I have always worn snake boots while turkey hunting. I have moved from my home hunting ground to the hills of east Tn. The terrain I hunt now requires a lot of walking up and down hollows. I also have to cross a creek every once in a while. Does anyone have a pair of snake boots that are great for hiking conditions as well as "waterproof"? I currently have a pair of Rockys that zip up the side. They are not what I am looking for. Thanks for any info.

danner makes the most comfortable snake boot i have worn, i wear mine all season, in places that have snakes and places that don't, they stay waterproof for a about a season, which i usually hunt around 50 days a season.  usually it leaks where my heel rubs the gortex liner and eventually wears through.

I will recommend the Danner Jackals.  They are light and very comfortable.  I just returned from Kansas where we were walking 8 to 10 miles per day, up and down hills, and they provided great support all day long.  I never returned to my room with tired legs, like with most boots.  The guys that I hunted with wore rubber boots and were always pulling them off, midday, so they could dry their socks but not so with the Danners as they breathe real well with coolmax socks.  They will cost you but this trip showed me how comfortable, light and supportive these boots really are.

Another vote for teh Danner Pronghorn Snake boots.  I have worn them Running up and down the mountais elk hutning as wella s chasing turkeys.  They are as comfortable as tennis shoes.
