Winter has held on a little longer than usual this year. I'm in southern middle Tn., and on a normal year some of the best hunting around here is right around the 15th. Last year winter was kind of warm and the best hunting was the first two weeks, but I think you are going to hit it just about right this year. I killed a bird opening day, but he didn't gobble on the roost and only a few times on the ground. He was with 4 other longbeards and about 10 hens, so they are still pretty grouped up. The weather is suppose to hit a warming trend this coming week, so I think they'll start busting up more.
