Browning Maxus question

I recently bought a Maxus All purpose with MOBU Infinity camo.  Its the drilled and tapped version with 26 inch barrel. I noticed on the website and at a store recently that the bolts are blackened.  However, the bolt on my gun is stainless.  I was wondering if anyone else has this shotgun and what bolt is on their gun and if anyone knows why Browning would use different bolts on this shotgun?  The manufacture date on it comes back to 2012.

When I called Browning, the guy asked me what my problem was after I explained the differences and said he had no idea.   His only suggestion was to send the gun in which seemed a bit ridiculous to me.  Thanks, Russ

I've seen them both ways but the hunting models usually have the blackend bolts. The sporting models have the the shiny bolts.

Thanks Clark, I would have thought Browning might have an idea why, but they were less than helpful, and actually down right rude. 

My Maxus bolt has a satin stainless finish, like that of the duck blind model.  I imagine its nothing to worry about but I am still curious.  Thanks for the response...Russ

I got a question as well....I've been wanting a maxxus for a while now but a buddy said his buddy that shoots clays a lot had a sporting model and it would hang every time they shot.  Is that common with them with the light liads?

Couple of things, SoP for Browning to ask for the gun back for any repairs, no matter how minor.  Also SoP for them to admit to nothing, and make few, if any, notes on the work orders.  Most manufacturers of anything have similar policies.  Makes legal sense to admit to nothing.

I have found Browning to be 100% responsive to complaints, but showing 0% personality in doing so.  They are bland and nonspecific with their replies, probably also a directive from their legal department.

I've never seen a camo Browning with a silver bolt shipped from the factory, but I'm sure it could happen.

However, I'd be much more inclined to think someone at the gunshop assembled the gun incorrectly, or even more likely, switched out the bolt for whatever reason.

I have worked in and around gunshops since 2003, and I've seen dozens of swaps like this, most commonly barrel lengths swapped, camo patterns switched, etc.

I'm guessing Browning CS had heard every story ever told, hence their disinterest.

Was it silver when you bought it?

Matte silver should not be a problem...

I had thought about the possibility of the bolt being switched out or dealer assembling gun improperly, but the small parts are all stainless too, such as the carrier assemby and bolt release.  I just think its kind of ridiculous to send it back.  The gun seems to function fine with the few shots I have thru it. 

Like I posted earlier, I do see that the duck blind camo version has stainless bolts and small parts.  My biggest worry was that someone had put a 3 inch bolt in my 3.5 inch gun.  When I asked Browning that question they said the 3 inch wouldnt fit.

Actually, I just looked at the Browning sight and the pic of the duck blind model has all black furniture, but if you look at this link from gunbroker, the DB has stainless furniture.  I am guessing they must make them both ways...go figure.
