Vinci and thugs

I posted a similar thread over on the lead forum,thought i'd try here too.I did some patterning yesterday with my vinci 28' and turkey thugs 3' 1/78 4's 5's and 6's at a lasered 40 yards and the results were abysmal.The choke was a kicks gt .665.I had previously patterned the gun with ww hv 3-1 3/4 5's and grey box ww 1-7/8 5's at an approximated 32-35 yards and they did o.k,the best being the grey box win.The gun/choke didn't like the 6's at all on that occasion.Now this was the first time patterning with this gun at 40 and after seeing all the great patterns people were getting with the thugs i am beginning to think i need more choke?Really bummed out as i thought i was real close to having her dialed in.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.....ward

Neither my 870 or my 835 are living the Thug life either.  Win Gray box and Win HV have outshot the Thugs in both my guns.  Just shows you have to try the ammo in your gun because there are plenty of guys on here with great patterns using the Thugs.

Ain't that the truth!We were laughing yesterday about the fact that my sons little single shot h&r partner that he won in a raffle (free) with an old truglo choke that somebody gave him(free)With an old truglo red dot i had put on it blew away our other guns pattern wise with everything we shot thru it!It shot the thugs really good too.Lol!

You have a $1,300 gun.  Do yourself a favor and buy some Hevi-Shot #7's and then call William at Sumtoy.

Yep, H-13 & Benellis go well together.

The Hevishot choke has beat out my JH and Rhino, and gives me 200+ in my SV with H-13 3.5" 6's...

I have an 870 with a 660 sumtoy and the gun likes 5's in lead. I've shorter XX's, HV's, grey box winchesters and the thugs. The gun Shot 5'a in all those loads better than it did 6's. I'm gonna be huntin with the turkey thug 5's. I'm averaging 110 with the thug 5's. I was averaging around 100 with the HV 5's. I don't think u can go wrong with a sumtoy choke. Great guy and great choke. One oft favorite things about the choke is how even the pattern is. It's a helluva choke.
