Sights, Red Dot or Scope

I have an Winchester SX3 that I use mostly to turkey hunt. I don't have any sights other what was supplied by winchester. What do you guys use and pros and cons of your favorite sights, red dot or scope? I've use Tru-Glo sights on my backup gun. (Mossberg 835). I like the Tru-Glo, but would be interested in what others are using.

I use a Burris Fastfire III on my 835 and love it. No aligning sights. Just red dot on target and squeeze the trigger.
Easy. Best red dot on the market, IMO.

I have an Aimpont 9000SC on both my Mossberg 835 and Benelli SBE 2. They withstand the heaviest recoil and get fantastic battery life, 50,000hrs.

Have set up several guns for friends with the ff3.  It's a great optic.

All have benefits and disadvantages but you have to determine which features are most attractive to you.

I have an SX3 Waterfowl I use for Turkey. I prefer the bead.

I think the ff3 is really the best of both worlds.  You don't have the monovision you can get through a scope, it's small, and it's accurate.  Target acquisition is fast and it's a well built unit.

I also have an SX3 and I just use the bead. If I were to put sights on it, I'd use the Truglo "Pro-Series" fiber optic open sights on it.

Hate the idea of batteries and never had any issues with any of the red dots I have used but nothing is faster than putting the dot on the waddles and pulling the trigger.... No lining anything up no making sure everything is centered.... Just put the dot on where you want hit. I have even shot a round of skeet with the fast fire 2

I currently use a scope, and don't have any complaints with it. Still want to try out a reflex sight for some reason though.

I've used a eotech, a vortex strikefire, and an aimpoint CompM2.  I really want to try the Burris ff.

The aimpoint is what I've stuck with.  Its expensive, but will withstand any condition and any recoil and keep zero.   Its nice to put the dot where you want and squeeze.  Forces you to aim without worrying about lining anything up.  Not to mention, fast to get on target.

AND, with a red dot, you can hunt AND shoot with both eyes open!!! AIMPOINT on my AR and love it!!!

I'm a big fan of fiber optic open sights. No extra weight worth mentioning, keeps the gun aligned properly, inexpensive.

I'll bet red dots work great too, but a good one costs $200 and they need batteries.

Scopes are also expensive and they add 3/4-1 lb of weight I don't need.

Calling in a turkey is hard. Shooting a turkey is pretty easy. A 40 yard shot on a more or less stationary object with a shotgun does not require a scope.

True. Have fiber optics on two of mine and a red dot on the other.
