choke recommendation

Good morning everyone, i am new to this site and have a question about the right choke restriction for my gun. m835 24" barrel, .680 or .675? is there much of a difference that will be noticeable? thank you for any help on this.

Welcome to the site.  There are several members on here who can provide a lot of great information for the question you're asking.  It would be helpful if you provided the some information about your preferences for ammo (i.e., some chokes work better if you're into Hevi #7 and others work better if you're into #5 lead, as an example.)  For the 835 most people will probably reply that .570 to .580 is best.  Once you've received several replies, consider looking at the Choke Classifieds section on this site, could save yourself some money on a nearly new choke that way.  Again, welcome to the site!

Thanks for the response, i plan on using Win HV #5s and do have a KGT .680, but was wondering what the .670 or 675 would give me before i looked into giving one of these a try.

.670 worked well in my 835 and 935 Moss

.670 to .676 is just about the perfect choke diameter for the 835 shooting 6's or 7's.  For 5's you may want to go to a .680 to .685.  But I would say you would and still could get as good of patterns with the tighter chokes I mentioned.  It just depends on the barrel and choke combo.  The only way to know for sure is to try several.  I can tell you what chokes I believe work the best in the 835 if your interested.  I have shot a lot of them.

 absolutely, what chokes have worked best for you? also, does a tighter choke mean you gain in better patterns at longer ranges. but at say, 10-20yds, would your shot load open up?

I have a 935 with the 24" barrel.I patterned Win HV 3.5" 5's through a .675 Indian Creek and a .680 Kicks GT.I got 143 in the 10 ring @40 yds with the I.C. and i got 140 with the Kicks GT. Not much of a difference.The kicks did have a better pattern in the 20" circle.You should get good results with the kicks and that load.

675 should fix you up.  That 835/935 like to be around that unless you run nitro or tss.

Here's the chokes that I like for the 835 that I have had good luck with.

Star Dot .676(good luck finding one)
Tru Glo SSX .670(one of the best kept secret chokes for the 835 on the market for the price)
Indian Creek .675
Pure Gold .670
Jelly Head .690

The SSX with a .670 exit diameter will give you excellent results with your 835, especially if your use Hevi-13 shells with 2 oz. of #6 shot.
