Got a weird little question here that I need a lawful answer to.

Since so many folks camouflage their own shotguns, is it against the law to paint over the serial number on a gun to the point where it cannot be read? What problems would someone run into in trying to transport a gun with an unreadable serial number on an airline?

Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read.

Cannot give you the "real" answer, but I would make sure it is easily readable just to be safe.  Also so if it is lost or something it is possible to be identified, even if it is not likely.

As long as its not obliterated you should be fine. Remember where it's at though in case you would have to scratch some paint away to reveal it.
