Went doe hunting yesterday and caught movement on the edge of a harvested  bean field covered with 6 or so inches of snow. It was a decent looking gobbler.Since I had just watched 4 hens scratching in the snow I was pretty excited. All of a sudden he jumped straight up in the air flapping wings and slashing at something with his spurs. Thats when the big boy jumped out and kicked butt. 2 nice gobblers at 35 yards going at it. Both had what looked like 10- 12 inch beards. The first bird was a bit smaller and he retreated across the field with the big guy on hit tail making that must has been a fighting purr. More like an angry yelp ???? 15 minutes later here they come again .Big boy ran the youngun 300 yards the length of the field and into an oak thicket. Never seen that before. I tried to get pics with the cell phone but I aint figgered out the zoom feature yet. Will try to post pics later. Why would they be fighting this late in the year.

I hear that.It was 19 yesterday and they were too busy scratching in 6 inches of snow in the bean stubble to fight.
