"For unto us a child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6).
It's now possible to determine whether a baby will be a boy or a girl. No surprises here. But before Jesus was born, Mary was told that her Child would be a boy. This wasn't information determined by medical science, it was God's eternal plan.
The angel told Mary, "You will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call His name Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High" (Luke 1:31-32).
The "Son of the Most High" entered a world of sinful people so that we might receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life.
The birth of Jesus, God's own Son, is the birth that gives life and joy to all who believe. In the birth of Jesus, "Mighty God" came to rescue and redeem us, and to reconcile and restore us to Himself. In the birth of Jesus, the "Prince of Peace" came to be our peace with God. In the birth of Jesus, God's love and grace came to dwell with us. This is why today is such a joyful and blessed Christmas for all who believe and trust Him!
Christmas matters, because Christmas is for you! Jesus is God's present to you. Jesus will never wear out, break down, lose power, get lost, be stolen, or become out-dated. Your gift is eternal!
