We had a guy here in VA that was even worse. Back in the mid '90's this guy purchased trophy-sized deer antlers from dealers in Indiana, Michigan and Montana and altered big game check cards in Virginia to match the antlers and pass them off as Virginia kills. Once he drove to Michigan and purchased a live trophy deer at a legal deer farm. After shooting the deer, he returned to Virginia and checked the deer as a Virginia-killed deer at a game checking station. He entered, and won, several big game contests claiming to have killed the deer with a bow. He was eventually indicted on fraud charges.
When it comes to big deer some guys will do just about anything to get noticed

I'm from Watertown, the town mentioned in the article.  The story ran in our local newspaper and was on our local website on a section they call "deer of the day."  It's a sad thing how people act these days.

I just couldnt imagine telling people I harvested an animal that I didnt. Just dont get it. Im just glad he got called on it.
