Jugs or noodles are a great way to cover lots of area if they are legal where you are at. If you have very little current, you might not be as effective. Cut bait like shad or bream, Canadian cold worms, different blood baits like livers and hearts are good. A catfish will bite on just about anything. Flathead cats are predators and prefer live bait such as shad, bream or goldfish. There are tons of different baits you can try. Like RAJ said though, if your not getting any good hits within 15-20 minutes, move on to another spot.
