I spent four days in the woods in Western WI and saw a lot of birds but could not close the deal.
I had one gobbler about 50 yds away and thought about it but he needed to take a few more steps towards me and he would not.
I am glad I did not as a wounded bird is not what I want.
I had a hen within 10 feet and two hens spent about 2 hours off to one side picking insects and that was quite entertaining.
I did have two new hunting partners walk through and I thought they might have flushed a bird or two towards me.

I figure the small one was around 250lbs or so and the larger one was somewhere around 300lbs.
I watched the come up to a 3 strand barbwire fence, that is about waist high on me and the fence did not even cause them to jump, they just strolled over the fence.

Mating season, male following female. Good thing he didn't mistake you for a sow bear!

Yep and why something with the thickest, longest hair wants to breed in the summer puzzles me  :D
