I get to go hunting again tomorrow for myself. I've got 1 more turkey to kill in CA. Tomorrow might be the day.

Had one at 30 yards and could see his head as clear as day but could not see his beard. Called him away from several hens and across a road. I couldn't figure out why he didn't come the rest of the way in until 3 hours later when I went backed and looked at where he was. There was a fence where he hung up and he just couldn't figure out how to get thru it. So he went back to his girlfriends. That is some valuable info for next time.

Heading to MO in the morning. Gonna hunt MO and IA for a week. Looking to upgrade. Last time I hunted this place in MO I killed my 2 biggest turkeys to date. I probably wont even see a turkey. NOT.

Went out this afternoon after work. Our season closes at 4:00 pm daily. I got there at 2:00 and after about 30 minutes I got a gobbler to answer my Twisting creek box call. I was debating whether to move to a different location but staid put. This big old longbeard came strolling over the rise and headed right for me. Pausing only to go into half strut a couple times. I was elevated from his direction and across a creek. He came all the way to 30 yards and even stopped and drank out of the creek. I was waiting for him to fly the creek. I know some of you are thinking why haven't I shot. I was thinking the same thing. The problem was I had a 410 and it's a 20 yard gun. I might be able to push it to 25. If I would have had my 12 I would be done in CA. He was beautiful in the tall grass. Nothing between him and I except air and a creek. After he walked off I went down where he was and looked back to where I was setting. I should have shot. I think he was closer than I thought he was. Better safe than sorry. Our season ends on Sunday. I am heading out tomorrow for a few hours before work. Hope I tag out. Wish me luck,
