I'm a newb here and have purchased this round on recommendations by members. Have never used a seven shot for turkeys and am curious how the penetration/distance compares to lead in 5's...
:thanks:

They will kill as far as should ethically be shot, I've killed 5 or 6 the last 2 years with them from 42 yards to 18 yards and they were all bang flop DOA .

I found that they will actually penetrate as good if not better than lead 5's and I'll elaborate.  Not all of the number 7's will penetrate as good as some lead 5's.  But that's the really smaller size shot.  The thing is that all of the shot inside the payload isn't going to be all the same size.  From my findings, you will get a lot of shot that are what they call snowman pellets and stuck together and or more like a lead #4 or lead 5 in size.  This shot is harder than lead.  And it will penetrate better than lead of the same exact size.  Some of the shot will go as small as a lead #9.  And then you will have a mixture of in between.  So when you shoot a gobbbler at let's just say 40yds with this load of whether it be 2oz or 2.25oz, the majority of shot will zip plum through the head and neck of a turkey.

I'll show you an example.  We will for admins sake say this was shot at only 40yds.

We used to have a furniture store commercial in this area that would end with the words "Need I say more."

And I wanted to be completely honest since the title of your thread I just noticed you were talking about 2.25oz.  That above was only a 3" 2oz load.

shot 3 turks with the 2.25 7s this season and I will say that in my observations shooting against lead 5s moving 1300fps that they penetrate the same for most part....penetration wise not comparing ft lbs.  Definitely a little better than a lead 6 in my opinion.  50 yards it's a dead bird if u r throwing the right numbers.  I'd be cautious about shooting thru heavy brush at distances...

I'd be cautious about shooting thru ANY BRUSH PERIOD.... with any load.
