Hi

I hunt in Huntindon, south Western Quebec ( Canada)...

I have a Carry lite , the Peep'n tom and pretty penny combo pack..

now on 2 hunts, a pack of turkeys, some males and females, came close and it seems they were interested, but they decided to keep their distance .  I notice my Tom decoy has a lot of blue on his face... also noticed the real turkeys had no blue ( as far as I could tell without my bino and from 50 yards away )  is it possible  the decoy is too impressive and he's spooking  the turkeys away ?  should I make the blue less evident ? should I not install the fan  tail ?

also I have a nice blind that is still in the box.  I would like to know if I set it up ON THE MORNING OF THE HUNT AND IN AN OPEN FIELD ,   will it spook the turkeys  IYO ?

last... I believe the turkeys saw me ( got busted )  does it make sens to go back at this exact location the next day?  I ask because we are limited in space...

since I am new to the sport , Please feel VERY welcome to give me any advice you'r thinking of...

I re-painted the head on my bmobile decoy last year and added more red to it as it was mostly white. if you busted the birds u can still hunt them just setup in a different spot and use different call then the day previus and switch up the decoys

I don't use decoys, just my preference.  I called in two longbeards this spring and my wife wasn't able to make the shot before they caught her moving.  The next morning we were set up on the birds 50 yards from the day before and this time he didn't get away from her.

I wouldn't set up in the exact same spot but would go ahead and hunt the same area.  Change up your decoys or don't put them out at all.  I would lean towards not putting them out at all.
As for the blind, I have good luck with carrying in a blind and calling in birds.  They just don't seem to be too bothered by the blinds.  Just keep it as dark as possible in the blind to cover your movement.

Best of luck on getting that first turkey!
