My wife and I went out tonight and did not see or hear much.  Right before fly up I said I wanted to check a field where we have been chasing these 2 toms.  The old farmer did not get them so now it is my turn.  As we drove by, two birds were moving fast from the green field to the woods.  They went off the field in a corner where there is a big deer trail that goes up a ridge into some pine trees.  I hope it was the 2 toms and not a tom and a hen.  The rear bird looked like a gobbler from what I could tell.  I will be waiting just off the deer trail with Jake mobile and 2 hens in the morning.  I am not going to touch a call until they are on the ground.  Last time I tree yelped and clucked hens took them the other way.

I have learned that over the years, I have more success doing this.

I agree.  I try to avoid calling until they are on the ground, and I am in an area they are either going to or wouldn't mind being in.
