As i had told you i was hunting with my brother this morning and trying to help him kill his first long beard. We have been trying for ten years and are snake bit. We set up on a bird that was HOT on the limb roosted on the edge of a clear cut. We were inside 100 yards with our backs to a big brush pile. Turkey was lonely and willing. Liked everything we said. Flew down in the woods and drummed our ears off just out of sight. He triple gobbled at the woodline and it got quiet. I told him to get ready! Somehow this joker walked up through the clear cut which has pines about a foot tall and very little else right in front of us without us being able to see him. The next sound we heard was him drumming behind us. He blew our hats off gobbling and drumming behind the brush pile. We decided he was going to get bored with this and walk off. We got turned around and stood up but still could not see him. We had to move a few steps to the side to see over the brush. He gobbled inside 20 yards and we could not see him but i knew exactly where he was. He stood up straight looking right at my gun barrel. I was telling my brother to shoot, but h couldn't see him. I waited hoping he would kill him. The turkey saw us and dropped back below the brush. The next thing we saw was him coming up in flight. My brother got off one shot while i unloaded $20 worth of H13 at him. Not a feather. I am sick.
On a better note, my other two brothers took my 11 year old niece and called up a nice two year old and she smashed him at 11 yards with a 20 gauge!
