How to condition Ceramic?

I have a new ceramic and a new copper call heading my way and I was just wondering exactly what is the preferred method to condition the ceramic?  Scotch brite, call stone, sandpaper?

Ceramic has lots of natural bite and doesnt really need conditioning. if you feel like the striker isn't gripping it enough run a scotch brite over it to clean the surface and you should be back in business. If you like a lot of grip or want a small area with some extra you can run a conditioning stone on it.

If you will use some box call chalk you shouldnt ever need to do anything with it but re-apply chalk. If you want to change the color of chalk just use scothbrite then apply with you favorite color

I would check with the call maker before doing anything to it. I've conditioned it several different ways and almost all of them changed the sound of the call.

The thing about ceramic is cleanliness.....it has a natural bite you cannot beat, but you should do your best to clean it using an alcohol pad (one that is lint free) if your striker isn't grabbing run over it with some 220 grit sandpaper and try again, if this isn't working change the angle of your strikers to a more upward position, applying less pressure will help also. If all these tips don't get you going then contact the call maker, he would surely be glad to replace it or fix it , I know I would...pappy
