I have gotten the best results with the factory choke tube that came with my 835 ulti-mag. I use the #6's, and they work flawlessly. I have read a lot of bad reports concerning the flight control wad, and in my opinion it is because hunters are trying to shoot them through the tightest pinhole choke tube they can buy. Federal designed them to shoot turkey killing patterns through a full choke. I have bought 10 boxes of them in case they ever quit making them, and I am planning on buying more just to have in case I get on a hot streak and I don't want to chance ever running out. My advice is to pattern the #5's and #6's and use whichever one patterns the best for you. Perhaps try some in the 3" size, as well as the 3.5". You can only kill a turkey so dead, and I have never had a problem with the flight control wads with this. My turkey gun isn't anything fancy, but with the federals it will put between 23-29 pellets in the brain and spine on a turkey pattern target at 40 yards, and they flop very little!! Hope this helps, and I agree with Johndoe, the fcw on the average probably won't shoot good through the ported choke tubes as they work against what the wad is trying to do. Most of the ported choke tubes are trying to slow or strip the wad from the shot column, while the wad is designed to stay with it. So if you wanting to buy new choke tubes, I would look at buying the non-ported ones to try if you want to stick to the flight control wad. Me, I'm a fan...
