Guys, I have a nikon btr turkey pro scope and have a question. The scope has been sighted in, but I need to change the focus a tad. If you turn the eyepiece on the back of the scope to refocus the scope, will this change POI on the scope in general?? I have heard it won't, but curious what you guys have to say on this subject. Thanks

No,it will not change anything except the focus.

That has nothing to do with the reticle, so won't change it.

The answer is no with a "but" added to the end.  Adjusting your diopter will not effect your POI at all.  However, what you are doing is refocusing your reticle and not your FOV.   That is the purpose of having an adjustable diopter.  It's basically a reticle focus.  Can this effect your FOV focus?  Yes it can slightly.  If your reticle is so far out of focus then your eye will attempt to correct that naturally.  In turn that can make your FOV seem out of focus.  The 2 focal planes need to be in sync or one or the other will seem blurry.

Here's an example.  Hold your finger in front of your face and look at the wall in front of you.  Your finger (which represents your reticle) will not be in focus.  Now look at your finger and you will notice in your peripheral vision that the wall is now out of focus.  Both planes need to be in focus so that you are not concentrating on either one but rather both of them together.  The diopter adjustment allows you to do this by bringing the reticle into focus with the FOV.

I hope that makes sense.

I also wanted to add that if you have a nonAO scope and you still can't get the FOV in focus then you may need to have your scope sent back and have it adjusted.  If you just have really bad eyes then it may be in focus already and it's your eyes that are the problem although I don't see that too often.
