They are acting like they always do. No different this season. I like raspy calls, and the birds seem to react well to them. I've had success with slate and glass. Don't own an aluminum pot. Box calls work good, especially when the wind picks up. Diaphragms work well too. I've had success on all those calls.
As far as dekes and style of calling, I vary that according to the situation and the time of the season. There's no one stock answer for that question. I try to mimic what sounds I am hearing from the turks. If they are quiet, I am too. If they are ripping it up, so do I. Early season is great for male dekes of any kind. Later in the season I scale back the number of dekes, and use female only.
