The past few morning's I've been calling with my mouth and slate. And they haven't been too interested. So i went this evening with a primos gobble shaker. I saw a ol Tom and got set up and tried calling to him. And again no intrest so i pulled out the shaker, hit it one time and I barely had time to get my gun up. So what I'm askn. Is. Do these calls work like this all the time or was I just lucky

Maybe its just that particular stage of the season where he's not interested in hens.

Depends on what mood they're in.   But yes they can work and work well but tomorrow it may be a waste of time.  You just never know.

One of my personal current interests is nest predators and how a majority of hunters, where legal bait to the extent of chumming coons.  However once they get the predators concentrated they don't control them.

Gobbling on a call has been around for a long time, but most hunters don't like to use it for one reason or another. It is a very effective way to call birds in, early in the season when the Toms are all pent up with the need to breed and the hens aren't ready yet so they go back to beating on each other for dominance. It works great early and late in the seasons when the Toms are starting to roam around looking for any left over hens. A kee kee is another great call to use if you don't like gobbling, because a lot of jakes still haven't learned to gobble right yet.

The gobble tube always has a place in my vest.  Has done well for me and all the birds that have worked in for me with the gobble call were atleast 3 years old.  Not to say this will always be the case, but so far so good.
As for the Kee Kee, all the birds I have called in with this call have been 2 year olds except for one.  Also a jake now and then but they usually get a pass, just depends on the shooter.

I carry a tube call with me at all times during the spring.
