Hevi 13 2oz. vs. 2.25 oz.

Just curious if anyone has compared the two load sizes in the same shell and shot #?

I'm using the 3.5 2.25oz. #6', but never tried the 3.5 2oz. #6's. And was curious if there was a chance the smaller payload 2oz. would pattern better than the 2.25oz.? General thinking is the 2.25oz. has more shot and should put up better numbers? But I really can't say never shooting the 2oz., and don't really want to buy more just to expierment. I know with lead, more shot does not always mean better, but not sure with Hevi? Has anyone compared the two, and if so, what was the results? Thanks

I haven't seen huge differences in pattern quality between the two. It's mostly about matching the choke to the gun there.

With #7s, I don't really see the point in going from the 2oz load to the 2.25oz, unless your trying to maximize effective pattern width or unless huge numbers in the 10" ring warms your heart. The 2oz load will deliver more pellets than needed in the 10" ring out to the maximum effective range of #7s yet still give a lot of effective pattern width (i.e., 16-18" @ 40yd).

As for #6s, the extra 1/4oz of shot may extend your range a bit as #6s generally afford adequate penetration beyond where pattern density in the 10" ring has dropped below 100 with a 2oz load. However, the 2oz #6s will still give you a 40yd pattern with a looooong fudge factor. So, the 2.25oz load will give you an even loooonger fudge factor.
