Cleaning a new shotgun??

How long does it take to clean a new shotgun? I bought a new 870 sm and it is taking FOREVER to get the barrel  clean! Any suggestions?

I use the "deep clean" method. I let my solvent dwell in the barrel for around half an hour. I usually clean the rest of the gun while I wait. I have about an hour total time, but the barrel comes out looking great.
