Men,
Make sure you have your camera, tape measure and scale ready to go for your hunts. We need accurate pics and measurements!

Getting ready for turkey season is all part of the experience. Getting together with friends, talking turkey, checking out new chokes or guns, new shells and then patterning, all good fun. I already have a good scale but I am thinking about one of those NWTF scales that computes your turkeys score. Friends have these and they are cool. I am sooo ready for spring. By the way it is -7 here this morning.

I read the contest post on how to measure spurs and I saw the form to fill out for measurements.
It said submit a piece of paper with a picture of Me,Sreen name and score.
What else do I need pictures of and is that listed somewhere?
Thanks

Yes you'll need a picture of you and the bird ( not sure how your going to get that if you hunt alone ), a pic of the bird on the scale and showing the weight (readable) the full length of the beard on your measuring tape so they can see what it measures, you may want to take 2 pics of the beard showing the full length and the end of it so they can read it, and both spurs showing how long they are. The paper or sign you fill out will look close to this.

Old Frank
Weight- 30lbs
Beard- 12-3/4
Left Spur- 1-3/4
Right Spur- 1-7/8
Pictures are very important, that's what they use to check that everything checks out to what your score is. If they can't read or see them clearly, then your bird won't score. It works best if you have help, but it can be done alone.
You can go back and get an idea of what you need from the pics of last years contest. I hope they didn't loose all of them?
Hmmmmmmmmm not sure just where they went with them?

Thanks. I will print this out and keep it.
just wanted to be sure everything was done right.
Most time I carry a big cooler and throw the bird in with some ice and head for home.
Somebody there to help with the pictures or I will rig up a tripod.
I am always taking pictures of myself when deer hunting as I am usually alone so I will figure it out.
