Tried the thugs out of my Benelli SBE the other day through an Indian Creek .665.

At lasered 40:

3" 1 7/8 oz. #5's - 120
3" 1 7/8 oz. #6's - 108

The fives did a little better than the sixes out of my gun, but they both did way better than the Winchester HV's out of this choke. I'm shooting HTL primarily, but I think I found a good alternative. I grew up shooting those old Federal's everyone talks about on here and shooting these turkey thugs kinda brought be back. Now if they could just put them in those blue and gold boxes I liked so much as a kid just trying to keep up with my Dad in the deep woods of Mississippi I'll be in heaven.

Sounds like your good to go with lead numbers in that range.Nice to have a combo that shoots both lead and hevi well, gives ya alot of options for sure!.....ward

I think quite a few gobblers are going to be brought down by the new Thug loads this spring, and I plan on helping out with that effort!

Yeah, those thugs look like a great shell.

I'd be stocking up on those 5's if I were you.  :icon_thumright:

Those 5's ought to work good on a coyote's head too, if you run into one.

you won't go wrong with the #5's
they will get the job done
it's not the harvest,it's the chase

The guy I was hunting with flipped a coyote with the 3.5 sixes at 25 yards. I am impressed with them for a cheap load by todays standards.
Jakes are like scotch. They are not worth a darn until they age.

Dude! If I got 120 out of 3" 5s I'd shoot them for sure!
