Each day draws us closer to the 1st day and I'M PUMPED. I recently purchased a A400 Xtreme & was given a Versa Max by my beautiful bride at Christmas. Has anyone shot or set up these guns with a efficient turkery choke & load?

I shot Hevi combo shot and jellyhead chokes with my SBE2 and had decebt patterns but have heard really good things about Winchester xtended range and Kicks "gobbling Thunder chokes"..... Any experience with those items or combos? I appreciate everyones comments and help!

For Optima + guns the Hevishot .671 choke with 2.25 oz Hevi 7's has been the ticket for me. Can't speak for the Versamax.

First of all, congratulations! You have 2 great guns there and obviously, a great wife as well.

The Versa Max is a real winner and fortunately, Pure Gold has produced 4 excellent turkey chokes for that gun. I was fortunate enough to receive them "hot off the press" and have been shooting them a good bit in the last 2 weeks, as have several folks who purchased them from me at the NWTF Convention and several regular readers who've also tried them.

The .660 does best with the Hevi-13 shells with #7 shot and the .670 does best with the same shells with #6 shot. We've all done best with the 3" shells. There are also non-ported versions of the same that are quite outstanding with those shells, even though they were designed for the Flitecontrol Wad shells.

I just returned from my range this afternoon shooting and I am very impressed with both the gun and those chokes.

Thanks,
Clark

I will be patterning the kicks .655 and win. xtend range out of my SBEII as soon as the weather warms up, I'll post my result's. I live in western NY so it might be June before the weather cooperates. :fire:
