Hey everyone.

Good to be back at the forum again in 2012.  Hope all have been safe in their other endeavors.  I have a question for a few of the NC hunters or anyone familiar.

I'm in the process of getting some permission to hunt some private land near south central NC (South of greensboro and west of Raleigh)  and don't know much about it.  My friend has moved there and is working on it.

Would be appreciative if anyone has hunted NC around those parts with some info on how the hunting is in that state or any other info you deem important.

Thanks

SWAMPFOX

No turkeys around there. J/k. Some birds are there

Depends where you will be hunting. Montgomery Co, has about 5-9 birds per square mile in the good areas and Randolph Co. has about less than 5 birds per sq.mile. I was not sure how far south of Greensboro you are. I have not hunted in Randolph Co. it could be better than what I said above. I got this info. from the NCWRC web site's turkey map of 2010. I have hunted in Montgomery Co, with good success. Good Luck, Mike

I found out this evening the farm is in randolph county.  I know there are some birds there because they have seen them but didn't know what the reputation of that area in NC is like for hunting.  Didn't want to put too much time into it if I hear there aren't many birds around there.

Thanks for the input.

Randolph Co. fairly rural, and the flock is expanding well in certain sections i've heard.
If birds have been seen there, i'd give it a try.
If it doesn't pan out, you've got access to about 60,000 ac. of public land with birds on it in southern Randolph and Montgomery Co..

Thanks hawg. I found some info last night on NC website for wildlife.  Time to get some game cameras out and see what's on the ground at the property.  Might be a good weekend trip after my season closes down in Many.
