What are the reviews on this turkey gun? I have an opportunity to get one but didn't want to pull the plug until I hear some reviews.

24" Brl. 2 3/4" -3" 12 Ga.

Thanks

Do an Old Gobbler search on it. Mine puts 204 Heavy 13 7's in 10" circle at 40 yards using a Pure Gold .670 tube. I like that its short but does kicks like a mule except when you pull the trigger on a gobbler ha... nothing kicks then.  Only shoots 2 3/4 and  3", Also like the looks of the laminated stock.

I have an earlier version; a 22" matte finish barrel on a M1300 Waterfowl (satin finish walnut stock and matte finish receiver/bolt/barrel but originally came with a 30" barrel).  I use a Pure Gold .670 and Hevi-Shot Mag Blends, good combination for me.

"I admire a good turkey hunter chiefly because such a man displays qualities that we usually associate with pioneer America-patience, enthusiasm, woodcraft, game sense, and a quiet hardihood undaunted by rain, by cold, by long tough miles, by disappointment."

My 22" 1300 is a great little gun that I prefer to carry anyday over my 3.5 mag. It shoots an excellent hunting pattern @ 82% pattern inside a 20 inch circle at 40 yards using HS 3-2-7.

My first dedicated turkey gun was the NEF 12 gauge single dipped in Bottomland, chambered for 3.5".  Because it hurt to shoot, I traded it for a Winchester 1300, without camo.  I really wanted something in camo so I sold it before I even hunted with it and bought a new Mossberg 500 in factory woodlan camo, which shot 3" left and 4" low for a POI with the factory 2-beads, and often jammed on me.  Adjustable sights couldn't fix that problem completely, so I traded the Mossberg for a Winchester 1300 Buck/Tom edition dipped in Mossy Oak New Break Up.

Reason I went back to 1300 is of all the guns I picked up the 1300 just felt right to me.  Fit me well, balanced well, pointed well and patterned great.  Its putting the birds down so its a keeper.

Here's a link to the pattern it throws with the JH .660 and Hevi 3-2-7.  Its got a 21" barrel.

A quality paddle caller will most run itself.  It just needs someone to carry it around the woods. Yoder409

My 1300 has been the best all around gun I've owned. I use it for nearly all my hunting. I have a 22" barrel for turkey/grouse hunting, a rifled barrel for deer and a 26" barrel for ducks/pheasant. The only complaint I have is the safety placement (in front of trigger) for turkey hunting.

I have owned three.  The first one failed catastrophically when I fed it an apparent double thrown Fed. 2/3" 1.24 pb 4 load on a crow hunt.  Put a piece of the receiver through my sternum, raked my arm pretty good and threw the barrel about 10 feet into the ground infront of me.  Federal bought me a new gun but they coudn't replace my lost hearing.  I used that gun for about 10 years before finally gifting it to a nephew who still uses it today.  I just picked up the 26" bbl, full camo, Universal Hunter model 1300 from my old store last Nov. for a whopping 175 bnes, brand spankin new, never fired.  I LOVE THIS GUN!!  It shoots lights out patterns with steel shot and is right on poi/poa and is drilled and tapped for optics so when I get my StarDot for it, we're gonna see what she'll do in the turkey wood sthis spring.

Had one years ago. It was probably my first dedicated Turkey gun.
Short, light and easy to tote around but would let you know who was boss when you pulled the trigger with heavy 3 inch loads.
That was before the HTL loads were readily available and never could get a pattern that I was satisfied with. Traded it off.

My 1300 is a back up gun for me now.   Like mentioned, it kicks good with the magnum shells.

got a black 1300 turkey, and a laminate 1300 turkey, both good turkey guns, but for some reason the black 1300 turkey is a special shooter, almost any load, winchester lead #5s, hevi 13 6s, but both really like extended range 6's
