ok I just cant seem to come to a conclusion at this point. Have a 670 sumtoy and a 650 sumtoy currently i am trying to decide between (stoeger m2000 and m3500). The 650 puts up better numbers (between 240-255 so far) where the 670 is a bit lower at around 210 average with a high of 240. Both are pretty good patterns and both shot the 7's good and the 650 shot the magblends better by 20 - 30 pellets.

where i am stumped is what to actually do here, i love the 40yd pattern of the 650 but a bit more worried about the 20yds pattern. I know both will be pretty tight 20 no doubt but the 670 with a bit more forgiveness. I know the answer is to what I really want to do and use them for but I hunt all over the place were most kills are in the 30yds range but there are a few places i hunt with fields that can get out there to 40 - 45 if i had to.  Sure 220 is not a bad number but 240 sure sounds better.

I just cant seem to make up my mind hahahah if i had the cash i would just buy both and keep both but at the moment just dont have $60 to shell out for it so one has to go back to William here shortly (another pitch for sumtoy, man you guys are great to deal with).

Have you considered splitting the difference and trying a .660 ??

Tom Foolery

My guess is little to no difference at 20yds with either choke.

shoot em both at 20 and find out... See the .670 in the classifieds and get a .660 to try

it prob wont make a difference at 20 just stuck with the wondering is all as the weather is not going to allow me to get out and shoot again for a while. Plus i am starting to run out of shells lol

I have to cut off the messing around with chokes when i am down to 2 boxs of shells, at at the moment i am down to 3 boxs so i have 5 shells left if i want to test anymore this year.

I thought about a 660 but A) i didnt really want to have William make me another choke on top of the 2 he already sent me and B) not sure if it will make much of a difference.

well I only bought 1 from Sumtoy he just sent me both to try and see which one i liked better, so i have to either buy the other one or send one back.  as i said above I am trying to not have William make me a bunch of chokes for me only to end up buying one, i though it was pretty cool he sent me 2 to test out in the first place. I am for sure sold on sumtoy in general, i have never had better service in any hunting product i have bought before.

I do have a pure gold choke I sold but i was going to use that money for something else but at this point i may end up with 2 chokes lol.

I got ya, Yeah William is a class act. I talked to him last week and plan on ordering a .660 for my remington with my next bonus along with my non resident tags for the spring.

keep the 650, sight your gun in, and don't worry about the close shots. If you do your part the gun will take care of the rest. IMHO there is no such thing as too close. I'd rather shoot 18 yards then 38 yards. When they are really close I'll aim an inch below where the feathers stop on the neck.

I body shoot inside 20 yards.

I hold in the feathers below the wattles and the turkeys are very dead.

Inside 10 yards I hold even lower.

Therefore I am both maximizing the abilities of the choke at both short and long-range.

Btw, I love my sumtoy 650 out of my super mag.
