AMERICAN MADE.......Does it matter?

I have a lawn mowing business, and frequent a forum for those in the green industries. Most commercial mowers, and, for that matter, most residential, are made in the USA. Many commercial zero turns are upwards of $10,000, with even the less expensive models averaging around seven grand or more. Not surprisingly, Chinese made clones are starting to appear on the market, and probably once a month, someone posts about the possibility of purchasing one of these mowers for substantially less money. I, and the overwhelming majority of the other members strongly campaign against it. Our manufacturing base is in the toilet, and I personally think we all should feel obligated to purchase domestically made products when we can.

Often, there is no choice, but sometimes there is. Last year, I was at Walmart picking up some new socks. Walmart changes brands on a regular basis, but I happened to buy Dickies. When I got home, I was surprised to find they are made in the USA. So, guess what brand socks I'll buy from now on? When given a choice, I think we should all buy American. Neill
