Has anyone ever used a baikal ofr a turkey gun. I hav eone and thinking about buildin my MP153 into a turkey gun.

I tried using the factory x-full chokes and it didnt pattern for squat. It does make for one heck of a waterfowl gun.You cant not get that thing to cycle or shoot no matter what you put it thru.

I have a baikal S x S in a 16 guage and I've killed a bird with it.  Flat out rolled a hen at about 30 yards with a load of #4 Winchester 1 1/8oz copper.  I havent turkey hunted with that gun since, but I do squirrel and rabbit hunt with it on occasion.

Its not much to look at but is built ford tough and is reliable for a cheap S x S.

I have a 26" bbl MP153 and it likes the 665 choke well enough for me.
I am partial to the Sumtoy chokes . Go to Sumtoy Chokes for more information or call William Lambert at the phone number shown. This takes a Truchoke thread and is available in some other makes but is not readily available. I may be wrong but I do not believe that Trulock carries that thread pattern any longer. Carlson's does I know.

What shells are you using

I hate turkeys

I did a SPR453  18" barrel, extended forcing cone, polished barrel, Primos tight wad choke, 2-7 scope. Shooting Winchester xtended range hi density 6's 3 1/2'' . The only thing I might do different is leave the barrel a little longer. But the way it's built it's fast, light, easy to get through the woods and it kills birds.

I have one of the single shot hammerless models that I bought about 11 years ago. It's really quite a good gun. It has a nice rib, some engraving on the receiver, a loaded chamber indicator and it a very good bore. The wood is also very good with a satin oil finish.

It came with 5 Tru-Choke threaded chokes. While those chokes are available from many sources, I had it rethreaded to take Invector+ chokes. It was a pretty easy job, the barrel did not need to be cut and I now have many more choices of brands for chokes for it.

It's a good shooter and patterns very well but a little light for shooting many 3" turkey loads.

Most of those guns are "over-built" with very strong actions.

Clark

Id like to have one built up like I hate turkeys except with about a 22" barrel and in bottomland.

i have a sxs 12guage....i've had the forcing cones opened up and custom built choke tubes made for it....the left barrel is .665 and good out to about 40 yrds...the right barrel is .655 and it's good to 60 yrds....i'm putting a reflex sight on it before the season opens and thinking of having it dipped in mossy oak bottomland in the summer

I shot it the other day and it shot way high left. I am going to have to mount a scope on it and see what she'll do. I have a Sumtoy .665 for it.

   . Well I got a Baikal MP 153 with a Sumtoy choke Hevi shot 3.5" 2.25oz #7
The results are in 277 shot in a 10" cir @ 40 yrds. Additionally another 181 in a 20" cir @ 40 yrds.
Total of 458 shot.
Thanks, William

Wouldn't want to be the tom at 40 yards with ^^^^^ pattern.  That combo looks like it equals graveyard dead.

Sweet dreams Mr. Turkey lights out for you. Wow . You can enter a gnat shooting contest with that set up. Go buy some more of those shells and never look back.

I thought about takin it to a turkey shoot and see what it will do there. But if i don't it will be alright.  I may try a custom loads.
