Some people just don't get it. My stepson leased 120 acres for about 3 years not far from here. It bordered public land. We posted signs, and I knew we would have problems, because the guy who had it leased before us never paid any attention as to who was on the property. I was always polite when I caught someone, and never had anyone give me any static, but it was amazing the stories people would come up with.

The place had two large ponds on it, and we drove down there one evening in the summer to find a guy fishing on one of them. This was almost a half mile from the nearest public road, at the end of which was Stockton Lake, about 20,000 acres of water. The guy said he was from Maryland, I believe, and was here visiting relatives. He said he just "grabbed his fishing pole" and started walking to find somewhere to fish. Geez. Give me a break. Why would you take across country, on private land looking for a place to fish?

The owners ended up selling the place, and I was actually relieved, because for myself, it was more trouble than it was worth as I knew that every time I went down there, I would find signs of people riding ATV's and fishing or hunting.

hope you get it straightened out and no kids were robbed of thier first deer. thats a good thing your doing
if i owned land i''d be the same way.
we are haveing some what of the same problem on our hunting places.

theres hardly anyone that uses signs around here and you cant really go by old fences sometimes land owners dont really know where the lines are. so we have to figure it out ourselves especially up around the mountain

more than likely i have trespassed more than once most of the time on a new place looking for the bondraries but as soon as i find out i have tresspassed. i always retrace my steps and get out of there cant say i've ever been confronted if i ever do i will be very polite and explain that im on my way out

I detest poacher/trespassers. If it ain't yours, don't go on it.

I took off of work one day to go hunting. I picked a day during the week just so that I could have the woods to myself. I strike up a gobbler and get the high ground on him. I have had a run in before with this one and I bet him to his favorite spot on top of a ridge with a logging road going down the center.
I work this bird for I know an hour and a half, and finally have him committed to coming to me. The bird is within 100 yards of me when all of a sudden "boom!!!". Now, I am working on killing my first gobbler, so imagine how disgusted I was. Then here it comes again "boom!!!!!!". I get my stuff and throw it into my vest, and about my 5th step away from my set up "BoOOOOMMMMM". I am the only, and I repeat, the only person allowed to hunt this spot, and someone came on our land, cut me off and shot.

Folks, this is dangerous business, and if you don't watch it it can actually land your backside in jail for manslaughter. It isn't cute, funny, cool, etc........
Keep on yours and I will stay on mine :character0029:

About 30 yrs. ago a doctor here caught a guy not only hunting his land but parked on it too . He told him not to come back, put up signs that week. The next weekend the jeep was back, signs very visible, he shouted for the guy to give him a chance to leave. The guy didn't come so he shot all 4 brand new mudgrips with a 30/30. He had no more problem after that. I'm afraid if you done that today you would have a forest fire or something though.

Folks are crazy now-a-days. Respect is a long forgotten word that is rarely practiced or given.

Why the free pass to begin with...especially with the attitude they flipped ya??  I might not have been so kind...after all it is your land and it is clearly posted....
:agreed: :agreed: posted signs aren't even required here in Louisiana

You did nothing wrong.  Trespassers should be proscuted, they hurt everyone who hunts and fishes.
The moment they trespass they show that they do not have any respect for anyone.
Find out where they parked and let all the air out of their tires.
