Of all the calibers available for the Encore why isnt  there a .240 Weatherby mag. Isnt the Encore capable of handling the .240 ? Is is feasible to even consider reaming out a .243 Encore to accept the .240 ?

TheTwistedOne

Pretty sure you cannot ream a 243Win out to a 240Weatherby.  Even though both cartridges shoot the same diameter bullet, the 243Win cartridge body is actually a little larger in diameter than the 240Weatherby cartridge body.  The 240Wby gets it's power from being longer.

Red.. Give these guys a try. Looks like they have them or will make one..Mike

May I assume you're not here to inquire about the alcohol or the tobacco?

Thanks guys.Bullberry does make it. However I think I would be better off Buying a Weatherby Vanguard in .240. I was hoping they would be a bit cheaper.

Red, do you handload?  Wby is proud of their factory ammo and 240Wby brass aint cheap either.

If you handload, I would suggest the 6mm-06 for the 240Wby performance level.  25-06 brass and one pass through a FL sizer and your set.

Having a 6.5-06 built as we speak.  Can't wait to put her on paper.

Thanks Reloader that sounds interesting.

Do you guys own a Thompson Encore? If so how is the accuracy? is it worth the $$? I was thinking of getting a Pro Hunter in 7-08 or 280 Thanks

A buddy of mine has the Encore in 7mm-08, and she is a tack driver. I have been very impressed with that caliber.

Mine is an Encore in .243. Very accurate.

Here's my Encore. Been hunting with it for 7-8 years now. It's in a .270 and it's my favorite rifle. Encore rifles are really accurate if you are half as good as the gun is.

Saylfish

Dang cannon a .270 pistol? That's impressive. My Win .270 kicks pretty good can't imagine it in a pistol.... :z-guntootsmiley:

I was wondering where the ''handcannon'' moniker came from..   :fud:

Yeah, that's where the nick name came from. It packs a pretty good punch but I really enjoy the challenge of hunting with a single shot and being a pistol just makes it a little more challenging. It'll make you appreciate the kill a little bit more no matter what it is.

Wow, I bet that dude will make the ears ring.
