Well, I finally made what I feel is the perfect shooting stick. This stick is similar to the "quick-stix" in that it has retractable poles that pop into place when released. For the sticks, I used the poles off of a portable cow elk decoy. I had to do a little modification by cutting the elastic band in the center to achieve my desired length.
The difference is in the yoke. Instead of using the scissor-style yoke, I used the v-yoke rapid pivot from stoneypoint. This allows me to easily swing my gun without worrying how the sticks are placed.
After removing the sticks that came with the stoneypoint rest, I found the decoy sticks to fit perfectly. I added some stealth strips from stealth outdoors for camo and noise reduction.
For turkey hunting, I prefer my sticks to be just past my trigger guard so that I can swing my gun as wide as I need to. Sticks that go on the barrel restrict your ability to swing your gun undetected.
